How to use Split PDF by Text
Choose your PDF, review the settings, and select Split by Text. Check the result and use Download Result to save your new file. Your source file is unchanged.
Separate documents at matching pages
Enter a short phrase that appears on the first page of each desired section. The tool searches the extracted text page by page and starts a new output file before each matching page after the first. Leading pages are retained as their own first part.
Use a clear section marker
A distinctive phrase works better than a common word. Whitespace is normalized for matching, but visual text order can differ from extraction order in complicated layouts. If the phrase occurs in every header, every matching page becomes a new section. This tool matches a fixed phrase; it does not detect when a text value changes.
Download and inspect all parts
The result is a ZIP containing numbered PDF parts with their physical page ranges in the filenames. The page artwork and copied page annotations are carried into the parts, but document-wide bookmarks, labels and signatures are not transferred. Links to pages outside a part may need repair. Image-only scans need OCR first.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it split a scanned PDF?
Only after OCR has added a selectable text layer. This tool does not perform OCR itself.
What happens to pages before the first match?
They are retained in the first output part. No leading pages are silently discarded.
