How to use Edit PDF Page Labels
Choose your PDF, review the settings, and select Save Page Labels. Check the result and use Download Result to save your new file. Your source file is unchanged.
Renumber navigation labels
A PDF can have physical page positions and separate navigation labels. For example, the fifth physical page can be labeled 1 after a cover and front matter. Choose the first physical page of your new sequence, then select a numbering style and starting value.
Use Roman numerals or a prefix
Roman numeral and letter styles are supported. A prefix such as Appendix- is repeated before each generated label. The tool creates one new sequence from the chosen page to the end of the document. Earlier pages use ordinary decimal labels. Any pre-existing multiple-section label scheme is replaced.
Page labels versus printed numbering
Reader support varies, and some browser viewers display only physical page numbers. Labels do not appear as marks on a printed page. Use Add Page Numbers to PDF if you need visible numbering in the document itself.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will this add a number to the bottom of each page?
No. It changes the PDF page-label dictionary used by supporting readers.
Can I keep several existing label sequences?
This tool replaces the label scheme with one new sequence and decimal labels before it. Keep the original if you need the previous multi-section scheme.
